Residència

A Place to Live

The background of every horse is unique. The aim of our centre is to offer a stable, secure place where they can all live in the best possible conditions. We currently have 50 horses, half
of whom are over 18 and it’s a pleasure for us to offer them a comfortable retirement.

We specialise in the older horse.

The horses live in groups and small herds in our fields and woodland.

We offer each horse an adaption period and a personalized programme. They are under ourdaily supervision.
Food is important for their well-being, which is why they are out at pasture and have access to hay when they need it. The older horses also have feed supplements.

We have more than 300 hectares of available space, which means that they have all year-round access to pasture and which ensures that their mental and physical needs are being met.

Contact us if your horse has special needs and we can discuss rates.

New Life

Every year many competition horses come to an end of their ‘productive’ lives.

Some become too old to compete, whereas others may have injuries or may not be suitable for competition.

Whether too old to compete or not, these horses are still relatively young, given that ahorse can live to about 30.

This means we need to look at how to develop other skills and qualities that they may have.

For many of us, horses play an important role in our lives, as work animals, family pets, athletes or friends.

They all contribute to our lives, our culture and our economy.

Our relationship with them includes a fundamental reasonability for their well-being.

Our aim is to provide sustainable, long-term solutions for all animals in our care.

Sometimes this may be a permanent stay in our centre or maybe retraining.

At Mas Casanova we want our horses to have a permanent, secure, safe future.

A team of professionals designs a personalized programme for each horse, so that any problems may be overcome, helping to ensure a new life.

We are delighted to have played a part in helping these horses have a new life:

Ladino, Diveree, Polvorilla, Anglès, Tulipa, Flor, Nevada, Tesorero, Lucas, Zagala, Llampec, Decibelle de Paute, Piña, Lizaron, Fausto, Príncep, Lluna, Zènit, Prace, Revolera, Dakarina, Frontera, Kalahari.

European Junior Champion, Spanish Endurance Champion. Injured at 8, he recovered but because of his complicated personality it hasn’t been possible to retrain him for another discipline and so he enjoys his life as one of our permanent residents.

In 2012 we got a phone call informing us that a horse had been abandoned with a serious injury to his foreleg and a high temperature. He had also not been broken in. After passing through our hands, he is currently living the good life with his new owner.

ALL TOGETHER, A COMPLETE PLEASURE.

Exploring the mountains and valleys of this region on horseback is such a rewarding experience. Every corner has its own character and history. Traditionally, it has never been

easy to travel round this area. It still isn’t. We are transported back to another age – a wild, virgin place of extreme beauty and peace.

Our 20 years of experience in this sector means that we can personalize trails and treks for our clients.

It is absolutely essential that we talk with our potential clients so that we can design and plan the trail precisely for them.

We want to be able to give you what you want in terms of:

Hours in the saddle

The choice of horse

The choice of tack

Accommodation

Food

We prefer groups of between 2 and 10 people.

The minimum length of Trail is a weekend, and the maximum, well – that’s up to you.

We are accompanied by a crew car which takes equipment, drinks and snacks, and which can be very important in that case of surprises.

Horses: Our horses, ex endurance competitors, retrained for trail riding, give us versatility and are ideal for this region. Their character and resistance mean that we can adapt to the

needs and desires of each rider.

Experienced riders only!!!
