Objectives
Horses give us everything they hav

Every year, many horses end their “productive” lives, especially in competitions. Some reach the end of their careers naturally and others due to injuries or lack of ability. Most of them are very young considering that a horse can live to be approximately 30 years old.

For many of us, horses play an important role as working animals, family pets, equine athletes or companions. They all contribute to our lives, cultures and economies and we must take full responsibility for their well-being.

Our goal is to find long-term sustainable solutions for all of them.

Testimonials

Mas La Casanova has always been and is a safe space for my horses and for my work when I began my journey of horse-assisted therapy. The horses live having social relationships, the best grass available and always under the wise gaze of Mercè, in case something happens. We feel very lucky to have found you.

While I was studying at university, I left my mare with Mercè. I wanted it to be in a large place and in a herd, but above all that it was well cared for and watched over. Mercè made a gradual introduction to ensure that the incorporation into the herd went well, she has given me full confidence and security and has taken care of her as if she were her own, I am very grateful for that 🙂
I have also gone on a trail with her and it has been fantastic, she takes very good care of the horses and is very adaptable and friendly. The horses are also super cute and there is a lot of variety, with more or less cane. Highly recommended!

I left behind the option of seeing my beloved Eire every day to give her a dignified retirement. But I never imagined that this decision would change my perspective on the need for equines, to be HORSES and live as such, in freedom and surrounded by their fellow humans. Arriving at Mas Casanova is the best thing I’ve ever done! My “fat” one is very happy He has left behind insecurities, fears and behavioral problems. Mercè and Xevi are exceptional people with a human quality that is difficult to find.. For them, horses are part of the family, always attentive to their well-being, with proven experience and the sensitivity necessary to find solutions at every moment or circumstance. The facilities are very well maintained.
I definitely recommend it 100×100!
I wouldn’t consider having another horse anywhere else. Thanks for everything guys, great job!

Since ten years ago, the horses of the Epona Foundation have been at the Casanova farm with Mercè Oms. We are happy there above all because at La Casanova they respect the needs of horses: Having space and being with the others in the pack. For us that is the basis for the well-being of horses
And then of course take care of them. That’s what Mercè does with much love and professionalism.

FAQS

FROM AN EQUINE RESIDENCE

Our added value is our extensive experience in the sector, dedication and love for our work. We have been professionals in the horse world for over 25 years and 12 years caring for and looking after the animals at the residence.

We take care of the horses daily, always ensuring the physical and mental well-being of the animal.

We choose the most suitable diet for each animal, following a diet of pasture and dry meadow grass in times when there is no pasture, thus solving the needs of each horse.

We offer additional horse care and well-being services at the client’s request.

We adapt according to the horse. We choose the enclosure depending on the needs, friendships and its behavior. The adaptation process varies depending on the horse and we choose one methodology or another depending on its emotional state.

If the horse has always lived alone in a stable, it needs to learn to live freely and adapt to the new lifestyle. Progressively and at its own pace to avoid tension and stress, a small enclosure is chosen and, depending on its character, a companion is sought who is similar to it. This companion will be responsible for showing it the environment and then joining the rest of the group and living in more open spaces.

We have more than 300 hectares dedicated to horses, which allows us to cover both their physical and mental needs at all times of the year.

In addition, our facilities are equipped with: nursing stalls, tracks for working the horses and different enclosures according to needs.

They always live in groups, as we consider it to be their natural way of life and the best way to stay healthy.

The facilities allow us to offer a good adaptation period and personalized treatment under our daily supervision. We have:

Horse paintings

The facilities have 4x4m pens with shavings or straw for horses that need it.

Paddocks

We have small paddocks with a shed and large paddocks of 6 hectares also with a shed.

Fenced for horses

We have six large enclosures with forest and meadow of between 25 and 65 hectares.

Tracks for working horses

We have two specific tracks for working horses.

Horses are herbivorous animals with a delicate digestive system. Knowing the correct way to feed them is essential to prevent them from developing diseases such as colic, astrogliosis, gastritis or tympanism among others.

We are aware that food is very important for their well-being and for this reason we offer them pasture and dry meadow grass whenever they need it.

We complement their correct nutrition with feed and other special equipment for older horses.

The basic fee to keep a horse in our equine residence is €190 per month.

On the other hand, if the horse has special needs, such as specific nutrition or that due to some type of serious injury requires recurring care, you should contact us to assess the needs and consult the price to be agreed.
