Horses were the beginning of this project 20 years ago, first dedicated to breeding and competition. Now 12 years ago the idea of creating the equine residence emerged as a need that had not been met until now, thus giving importance and value to horses that were no longer productive.
Over the years we have grown and seen the needs of the territory we manage (about 500ha). We believe that through a broader and more diversified project we will be able to take care of and regenerate our environment much better.
Casanova is a center where the different actors of this territory, old horses, small grazing cows, goats, the forest, the soil and the people who participate, collaborate with each other for its regeneration using regenerative agriculture as a basis for regenerating the soil.
In what way?
With the directed grazing of animals without using chemicals, we manage to capture CO2 through photosynthesis. By changing the situation of emitting Co2 from conventional agriculture and livestock to retaining it in the soil, we contribute to reducing climate change, recovering spaces where grazing was no longer done or maintaining those that we have recovered with different forestry actions, always being respectful of wildlife and leaving virgin spaces.
-Land/lands/forests. We are in the Pre-Pyrenees. An area of forests and terraces where the forest has been gaining ground and the less productive farms due to the productive channels have been abandoned or their full potential has been wasted. Our goal is to recover its potential and make this a place where each part and its whole make sense.
How to participate in the project?
By bringing a horse to the residence, sponsoring a horse or buying our products (meat and in the near future milk). With this you collaborate in regenerating a territory, its soil, the roots of its people, the prevention of fires, the well-being of the animals that live there and in giving opportunities and new jobs to different groups.
All of this gives us the benefits to sustain the project and expand it to new enriching lines for the territory, people and animals involved in the project, giving a stable space to all the beings that are part of it.
